Hi Guys,
A friend of mine from India is getting married to a US citizen here. She is coming here on a Fiancee visa (i believe K or V one of them). Does anyone know how long it takes to get a Green Card if you marry a Citizen?
Any help will be appreciated.

So far, the USCIS has announced that it received 5,900 H-1B applications for the normal quota and an additional 4,500 for the advanced degree quota. These numbers were released yesterday, April 7, 2011.
In years past, many remember that the H-1B quota was exhausted as early as the first day of applications. Last year, the H-1B cap was not reached until January the following year. I would anticipate that with the economy still rebounding, the H-1B quota will last a significant amount of time. This will also ensure that everyone who can find a job offer this year will have a chance to make an H-1B application. I changed my employer 3 months back and didn't expect the dates to get current so soon. My labor with the new employer has just been filed. However, my previous employer told me that if I want to continue with my gc process with them, I need to be their employee again.
Does it make sense for me to do this ? My 485 will not get filed until 10 days from now because I have yet to start with the paperwork.
Will the dates retrogress by then? Please advise me folks.

I left the U.S on October 30 2009. My L.C. [Perm] had been filed on July 30 2009 and was recently approved.
My 6 year H1B expired on Feb 2 2010, with approximately 160 days available for recapture.
My company needs me to return to the US urgently and is wanting me to apply for a Business Visa.
Subsequently when I am in the U.S, they intend to file for I140 and then 7th year H1B extension plus recapture
time based on pending I140
Is this feasible? -- What impact would it have on my green card application process?

Applying for SSN doesn't invalidates your H1..
I received my EAD recently and shortly applied and got SSN. Its a card which allows you to work. Doesnt cancel nothing :D

Hello all,
Form I-693 downloading from the following site is valid until 6/30/07.
Is it ok to use this form though we will be filing the I-485 on 07/01/07.

I heard you can file Perm only if you are on H1 or other status and not on EAD (AOS Pending I485).
That is not true....
You certainly can file new PERM while on EAD. So go ahead and do EB3-EB2 porting...

No, it does not mean that it is approved.
A number is just File number for Alien, for USCIS record keeping/tracking purpose.
